The 50th Montana State Square & Round Dance Festival is being held in Ronan, MT sponsored by the Montana Mavericks of Plains, MT with help from friends.
It all started in 2003 when Ron & Darlene Jolly and Roger & Beth Barnes decided they wanted a square dance club in their home town after moving from Spokane, WA. They took a chance and hired a 12-year-old kid to call and teach for them. A year later the Montana Mavericks was officially formed and have been dancing ever since.
The club has participated in numerous local parades, festivals, and conventions. Lending a hand where ever they could. They are still going strong dancing the 1st Saturday of the month October-March, moving to the 2nd Saturday in April, May, June, and Sept. Taking July off, and having a campout on the 2nd weekend in August every year.
Happy dancing and hope to see you in a square soon!
